What’s Hot This Summer at Mastermind Toys

I’ve talked about Mastermind Toys before, and I have to tell you it’s still one of my favourite places to shop. If you’re lucky enough to live near one of their 39 toy stores, you’ll know just what I mean. Every time I visit, I discover new treasures. The friendly and patient staff are tops at customer service, and I’ve discovered they’re also really talented at coming up with fantastic gift ideas for any child (or child at heart!).

Mastermind Toys, home to some extraordinary toy curators (what a cool job that would be!), has just released their Annual Summer Toy List. They’ve picked 25 of the hottest toys to keep kids active, occupied and entertained – rain or shine all summer long! Here’s a peek at some of our faves!

Kick® Micro Mini-2-Go Scooter ($164.99), Ages 18 months+

An awesome Micro Scooter for kids 18 months to five years. Whether cruising indoors or outside, the Micro Mini2Go comes with storage space for your toddler’s most precious possessions. Kids can pack up the drawer, sit on the seat and take off. Steering is enacted through weight transfer, teaching kids’ motor skills and sense of balance. When the seat is no longer needed, it can be easily removed and the Mini2Go is transformed into a traditional stand-up scooter with an adjustable T-Bar handlebar.

Slackers Slide and Surf Screamin’ 20’ Water Slide ($69.99), Ages 5+

Slackers Slide & Surf

We’ve been enjoying some hot summery weather the last few days, so my kids could barely contain themselves when we got our sweaty little hands on one of these Slide & Surf water slides. It took hubby and I about half an hour to set up while the kids danced around singing, “Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet?”. About 10 minutes of that set up time involved running over to the neighbours for a footpump (ours having disintegrated over the winter). Trust me, don’t try this with just lung power!

Once everything is inflated and staked down, turn on the water and let the kids go!

The Slide & Surf water slide is just about the most fun the kids will have in the backyard all summer!

I have to tell you the kids had SO MUCH FUN with this! These have come a long way from the long, skinny yellow plastic ribbon I remember back in my childhood days. Everything feels sturdy and well-made. The Slide & Surf has an inflated pad at the beginning of the slide to protect little knees and faces as they learn how to achieve that perfect trajectory. Inflated sides keep them on the slide, and the little pool at the end finishes everything off with a big splash!

When the kids got tired, they liked just hanging out in there too.

I already know this is going to be a summer staple for us. The girls can’t wait to invite some neighbourhood friends over to beat the heat and take a ride on their water slide. I think our backyard is about to get a lot more popular!

  • I have been looking at the Sand and Water activity table, keep the grandkids busy when it’s bad weather outside!!

  • I would get the water slide for the grand kids. It gets mighty hot here in Charleston, and the kids love the water. The cats hate it. Well, they don’t care to much for the kids either. My grands call them “Old Lady Cats”.

  • My daughter has really been into rock collecting lately. We love the little rocks and gems at Mastermind Toys~!

  • I would get more Lego as my grandchildren love playing with it. I think Lego is an awesome toy!

  • Anything Lego of course! But to pick, it would be the LEGO® The LEGO® Movie™ Ice Cream Machine! How cool is that?!? Pun intended! 😉

  • I would purchase the slide, it is so hot here in Ft Hood Texas. Its nothing compared to the weather were use to in Monterey Ca. The kids are trying to adjust, and miss living next to the ocean. I think this slide would put a smile on there face. None of use were happy about moving. When it comes to the Military we dont have a say in the matter :/

  • Mastermind just opened this spring in Hamilton and I looooove it there!! I’d put it towards some Zoku stuff – the recipe book and some extras for the Zoku I bought for myself for my birthday last month. 🙂

  • I would use the $50 towards two things. One for my daughter and one for my son. He’d love to copy daddy with the little Weber BBQ and she’d love the Slackers Slide and Surf.

  • i would love to get the “Bump ‘N’ Bubbles” Robot Bubble Machine and other great summer toys if im lucky enough to win

  • I might get the ChronoBomb Game! I’m sure that my Grandkids would have a lot of fun playing with this!

  • Mastermind Toys is a favourite store of my boys! We are blessed to live close to a location and we frequent it all of the time. If we won the GC, my boys would buy some Siku vehicles that only Mastermind Toys carries. 🙂

  • A razor scooter would be a lot of fun for my daughter. But they have so many great other toys….I would have hard time choosing.

  • MY daughter would love these:
Bling2O Love Letters Heart-Shaped Pool Goggles
Saw them in the catalogue, theyre adorable!!

  • My granddaughter would love the Slackers Slide and Surf Screamin’ 20’ Water Slide. Looks like so much fun!

  • I would buy my kids the Slide and Surf for my kids. We spend every second we can outdoors and they love the water and I can see them having a great time with it

  • I would love to get the Squap Catch and Throw Game! This would be perfect to play with all Summer!

  • I would buy the ScienceWiz ChemistryWiz Kit. I’d also buy the Science Wiz Chemistry Plus kit. These would be for my homeschooling grandson.

  • If I won I would buy an Our Generation Doll for my niece, I would let her pick which one she would like.

  • These are some pretty cool toys! My kids are 5 and 7 and I know they would love the bubble robot! I will have to check that out.

  • The Alex Super Sand Digger looks awesome! Our neighborhood park has an enormous sand area, and this would be the most popular toy ever.

  • My grandson is really into Minecraft. I would buy him Minecraft The Complete Handbook Collection. He borrows it from the library, so ‘m sure he would enjoy his own collection.

  • I would love to get this for summer: Slackers Slide and Surf Screamin’ 20’ Water Slide.
