Lindsay’s Candles Are Perfect for Valentine’s Day!

For better or worse, I think we’re all very aware that Valentine’s Day is almost here. This year, my brother will be taking the kids (thank you so much!), and hubs and I will be having a nice romantic dinner alone. To me, a romantic evening always includes candles so it was great timing when I received this package of handmade goodies from Lindsay’s Candles & Stuff.

I knew right away what was in the box when my mail carrier delivered it – it smelled so good! I had a lot of fun pulling out each individually wrapped candle and slice of soap and sniffing all the yummy scents. I received this lovely selection of Lindsay’s handmade products:

  • 5 liquefying votive candles in Raspberry Vanilla, Pomegranate and Pineapple, Cranberry Twist,  Jamaica Me Crazy, and Monkey Farts (I just need to clarify this is a blend of bananas, bubble gum, and tropical fruits – not the other thing!)
  • 16 ounce apothecary jar candle in Blackberry Sage
  • Oatmeal, Milk, & Honey soap
  • Fruit Slices soap
  • Kid’s frog soap in Monkey Farts
  • Body spray in Island Nectar

Handmade Custom Candles

Lindsay taught herself how to make candles as a hobby just over 10 years ago. Now her business helps her stay home with her two daughters. Everything is made with love and care in Oshawa, Ontario. Because everything is handmade, Lindsay can customize the scents and colours of any of her candles. Imagine ordering candles in any scent and colour to match your tastes and home decor!

The handpoured votive candles burn for 15-20 hours, and the 16 ounce apothecary candles burn for about 150 hours. Yes, these candles are going to last me a long, long time. The scents are noticeable, but they’re not overpowering or too perfumy. My current favourites are raspberry vanilla and blackberry sage, but I reserve the right to change my mind the next time I light a new candle!

When Valentine’s Day arrives, I’ll be burning these candles for a little extra romance.

Lindsay's candles create a warm, romantic ambiance.

Luxurious Handmade Soaps

Lindsay’s soaps are cold-pressed and made with olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa seed butter, and grape seed oil, so you can understand how silky they feel. I really like the scents of both the soaps I was sent, but one of my favourite things about these soaps is that once I’ve rinsed off, barely any scent remains. That tells me that the soap rinses clean, and that’s a good thing.

Special mention goes out to the fun kid’s glycerin soap with a little frog inside. The kids really want to play with the frog stuck inside the soap, so it’s a great motivator to get them in the tub. They want to help the frog escape! If you’ve got a little one who hates baths, this may be just the thing to help. I did notice that the clear glycerin darkened to brown over the last week or so because of the vanilla content in the Monkey Farts fragrance. My kids don’t care, but it’s something to be aware of.

I also tried out the body spray in Island Nectar, a blend of tropical fruits and blooms. The smell reminds me of lazy summer days, a wonderful thought in this cold snap we’re having. This multitasking spray can also be used as a room or fabric refresher, and in a pinch it can even help detangle hair! Nice!
