6 Games for Your Next Family Game Night

One of our favourite family pastimes is playing games together. Whether it’s the latest Mario video game on the Nintendo Switch, a rousing game of 20 Questions in the car, or board games on Friday night, game time is family time!

So many of our favourite games are from Hasbro: classics like Jenga, Monopoly, and Scrabble, as well as new games like Monopoly Deal, Peeing Pup, and Tiny Pong. Turn off the TV, make some popcorn, and get ready for family fun! With tons of family games perfect for any game night, which ones would your family like to play?

Jenga

Remember the old Jenga commercials?

Jenga, Jenga, J-j-j-jenga!
You take a block from the bottom and you put it on top,
You take a block from the middle and you put it on top.
That’s how you build the tower; you just don’t stop!

Jenga is easy to learn and fun to play. Play on your own or get everyone around the table and see who knocks the tower down. I remember playing Jenga at camp when I was a kid, and we love playing with the kids now. Jenga gets everyone shrieking with laughter every time!

Includes 54 hardwood blocks, cardboard stacking sleeve, and instructions. For one or more players, ages 6 and up.

Scrabble

Scrabble is the classic word-building crossword game every family should have on the game shelf. Draw seven random letters and build words. Play your word on a double or triple letter or word space to earn big points and beat your opponents.

Includes 1 game board, 100 wooden letter tiles, 4 tile racks, 1 drawstring letter bag, and game guide. For 2-4 players, ages 8 and up.

Monopoly

Everyone loves Monopoly! It’s the fast-dealing property trading game where players buy, sell, dream and scheme their way to riches. This version welcomes the Rubber Ducky, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Penguin into the Monopoly family of tokens. Choose your token (T-rex, please!), place it on GO! and roll the dice to own it all.

Includes game board, 8 tokens, 28 Title Deed cards, 16 Chance cards, 16 Community Chest cards, 32 houses, 12 hotels, 2 dice, money pack, and instructions. For 2-8 players, ages 8 and up.

Monopoly Deal Card Game

When you don’t have time or space for a game of Monopoly, pull out Monopoly Deal! This Monopoly-inspired card game comes with 110 cards including Property Cards, Rent Cards, House and Hotel Cards, and Wild Property Cards. Action Cards let players do things like charge rent and make tricky deals. House and Hotel Cards raise rent values. Wild Property Cards help players build Property sets. Pay debts with Money Cards.

Be the first player to collect 3 complete Property Card sets in different colors to win. This card game is a great way to play Monopoly in as little as 15 minutes. We’ll be packing this for camping this summer!

Includes 110 cards and game rules. For 2-5 players, ages 8 and up.

Peeing Pup

Peeing Pup is a twist on the age-old game of hot potato. Kids take turns petting the cute pup’s head, and when the puppy barks it’s time to pass him to the next person. This little pup makes cute sounds when you pet him…but watch out. He loves the attention, but he might just pee on you! The only player not to get peed on by the pup wins.

Includes Peeing Pup game unit, plastic tail, and instructions. For 2 or more players, ages 4 and up.

Tiny Pong

The Tiny Pong Solo Table Tennis game is a brand new game from Hasbro (available June 2019) that shrinks table tennis action into the palm of your hand. Launch the ball and bounce it repeatedly on the miniature court to rack up points as the game responds with lights and sounds. Move the court back and forth under the ball, and get a point for every bounce. Play solo or challenge friends to beat your score in either Beginner or Expert mode.

Okay folks, this game is hard. Think paddle ball without the string. On just our first day we had to fish the ball out from behind the TV, under the couch, and from the top of the kitchen cupboard. My kids like trying though, even though they’ve only been able to get 4 or 5 bounces before the ball goes flying off. The plastic ping pong ball is light enough not to hurt when you accidentally bounce it off your face, and the neon orange colour is a good choice to help you spot a runaway ball. There’s a little ball storage doohickey under the tabletop surface, but I anticipate needing a new ball pretty soon because my kids will lose it.

Includes Tiny Pong court surface, handle, net, ball, and instructions. For one or more players, ages 8 and up.
