It’s no secret that Tee is a huge Star Wars fan. Even before she could talk, she could identify Darth Vader and Luke and R2-D2. As a toddler, one of her most popular party tricks was her heavy breathing Darth imitation. Sure, wearing your bathrobe all day long and using the Force are pretty cool, but we all know the best part about being a Sith Lord or a Jedi Knight is the lightsaber!
Tee was so excited when she unwrapped this Uncle Milton Star Wars Science Lightsaber Room Light for her birthday! The box says ages 6+, but it’s actually very simple to put together. There’s one tube that contains all the electronics. Put the tube inside the plastic shell of the lightsaber handle, add the battery pack (3 AAA batteries not included), and snap the two halves of the handle together. Then the lightsaber tube clicks into the top. With a little help, even the youngest padawans can do this.
Tee couldn’t wait to see the lightsaber light in action! We put it together right away and mounted it on her bedroom wall. Turn on the light and change colours by pressing the button on the unit. The included remote will also change the colours or set it to cycle automatically through all the colours. It also makes lightsaber sounds when it turns on, changes colours, and turns off.
This is a really cool little gadget! Be aware the lightsaber does not come off the wall mount for play. You could use it as a nightlight for bedtime, but it turns itself off after about fifteen minutes (thankfully, or I’d be going through batteries like crazy).
Uncle Milton makes similar lightsaber room lights in Luke Skywalker’s green, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s blue, and Darth Vader’s red, all with their respective screen-accurate hilts (or so I’ve been told), but I’m glad we picked this one. It may not be as authentic as the others, but the colour-changing makes it even more fun I think. Plus this way Tee gets the pink lightsaber she’s always wanted!
