Seven years ago today, I stood up in front of my family and friends and said my vows to the man I love:
“Together we will build a home that is compassionate to all, full of love and honour for others and for each other. I promise to love you with all my heart and shield you from harm. I will stand by your side and sleep in your arms in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want, in joy and in sorrow. I will cherish and respect you, comfort and challenge you, laugh and cry with you. I will make my home in your heart from this day forward, freed and bound by our love. In perfect love and perfect trust, I give you all that I am and all that I am to become.”
Seven years ago today, I put on a beautiful white dress and a veil, and I walked into a garden filled with my waiting friends and family. Seven years ago today, I made the most important promises of my life to the most generous, compassionate, and loving man I had ever met. Seven years ago today, I was a newlywed dancing with my new husband under the stars.
Seven years ago, we were just starting out on our journey together. Seven years ago, we could only dream about what life would have in store for us. Seven years ago, we hadn’t yet met the beautiful souls who would someday enter our lives and call us Mommy and Daddy.
Today, we have a family and a home built from love, and I can’t wait to see what the coming years will bring us.
To my best friend, my wonderful husband, and the father of my children: In perfect love and perfect trust, I give you all that I am and all that I am to become.
