Editor’s Note: This review is of the newer version of the Fuzzibunz One Size Elite diaper, released in 2013. This diaper is significantly different from the original Fuzzibunz One Size Elite, but they were both sold under the same name which can cause some confusion. See this post at Cloth Diaper Addicts for an explanation and comparison of these two versions. Note that neither diaper is in production anymore, but old stock of the OS Elite is still available at some retailers, and they can also be purchased secondhand. We hope this review is helpful for mamas considering a new or used Fuzzibunz Elite.
This diaper was a splurge for us as it was the only pocket diaper we bought brand new. Last fall we had just recently made the leap to cloth, and the initial cost to get started was intimidating for my husband and me. For this reason, a large portion of our diaper stash was purchased pre-loved. And I mean realllly loved.
It sends a thrill through me when I find a good deal, and second-hand items are no exception. I considered it a personal challenge to build our collection as inexpensively as possible, which lead me to stalk local buy, sell, trade groups, just waiting to pounce if the price was right.
Now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with buying pre-loved, and it really helped us to stick within our budget, but I wish I had known beforehand what kinds of questions to ask about wear and tear before committing to buy. Here I was with a shelf full of used pocket diapers, patting myself on the back for finding such bargains. It didn’t take long, however, to realize that half of them had severely cracked PUL and were far past their life expectancy.
After this little fiasco I was pretty frustrated with my two-steps-forward-one-step-back approach, so when I saw that Fuzzibunz was having a big sale on their One Size Elite pocket diapers, I decided to buy one to see the difference having a new product would make.
Let me begin by saying that this particular model has been discontinued, but I believe that taking a good look at the how this diaper has held up still provides a lot of valuable information about the quality of Fuzzibunz products in general and the fit of their one-size pocket diapers specifically.
So what makes Fuzzibunz One Size Elite diapers different?
Aside from the fact that it’s much newer than my other pockets, there are a few features that make it one of the best diapers in our stash. For one, this diaper has never leaked. Not once. Not even that time Brooks ate some bad curry…kidding! But seriously, this is my go-to diaper for 100% leak-proof nights. Although these one-size pockets run large and are even recommended by Fuzzibunz for babies in the 75th+ percentile, they are so stinking adjustable that we’ve always been able to get a perfect fit for our little featherweight.
In addition to the five hip snaps and three leg snaps on each side, there are leg and back elastic adjustments on the inside of the diaper as well. At first I thought all this constant adjusting would be an inconvenience, but I’ve only had to set the elastic sizes on the inside once when we first purchased it. Since then we’ve just changed our snap preferences as needed. Piece of cake!
The One Size Elite came with two, very thick microfiber inserts, and the diaper is definitely roomy enough to handle more, if needed. Even with both inserts added, there’s still excess fabric, and the size of the micro fleece pocket is very generous. I don’t own one of the new Fuzzibunz One Size Adjustable diapers, but I’ve heard from other reviews that they are a bit more trim than the older model. This fluff is not for the faint of heart!
Look at that bum!
Brooks is so slim that this diaper doesn’t fit well underneath his daytime clothes, but that’s never been an issue for us since we decided early on to use our pockets at night and stick with prefolds and covers during the day.
How the Fuzzibunz One Size Elite has held up:
The PUL: Tip top shape! And the pocket is so wide that I’ve never been worried about accidentally tearing the PUL while trying to stuff.
The snaps: Still in great shape, and there are no signs of wear on the fabric surrounding them where they experience the most strain from being opened.
Elastics: They have held up very well over the last year even with being on one of the smallest size adjustments.
The fabric: This diaper washes easily, and I’ve never noticed any staining. The outside is still silky soft, and the micro fleece pocket, although a bit pilly, still feels great against the skin.
The inserts: They are still as fluffy and absorbent as ever. Brooks has recently started sleeping 12 hours at night, and these inserts easily manage the wetness.
The Fuzzibunz One Size Elite has been my favorite night time diaper for the last year, and I know you guys will understand me when I say that I actually look forward to using it when it comes through our rotation. With how little wear and tear this diaper has accumulated, it should definitely continue to work for my family for years to come. Sometimes buying new is worth every penny!

This is amazing that it lasted a whole year! It sure is a great product!
I’d be devastated if it hadn’t lasted a year, isn’t that normal? This sounds like a very good diaper and it still looks as good as new considering all that it’s been in contact with. 🙂
Kinda miss my CD days…..sigh.
Shhh… sometimes I do too. I’ve been seeing all the Black Friday CD deals today, and I keep getting excited about an awesome deal before realizing we don’t use them anymore.
I didn’t ever try a FB one size but did have Fuzzibunz diapers for my daughter and loved them!
Isn t it nice when you buy a product and you get your moneys worth…..awesome diaper
These look like they hold up very well. Yet another to add to my list to try!
fuzzibunz look like great diapers and worth the price!
I’m not happy with my fuzzibunz diapers. They leak all the time and the elastic needs to be replaced already. It’s only been about 9 months. I was hoping they’d last through potty training.
