Cloth Diapering

The Great Cloth Diaper Change is Coming April 27-28, 2019

Good news, cloth diapering mamas! The Great Cloth Diaper Change is back for the ninth year in a row! The 9th annual GCDC will take place over the weekend of April 27-28, 2019.

The GCDC is a family-friendly annual event promoting the benefits of cloth diapering while celebrating Earth Day and sustainability.

First conceived by Judy Aagard of Tiny Tots Diaper Service, this event morphed into a dream to set a Guinness World Record for the most cloth diapers changed simultaneously. Shortly thereafter, the Great Cloth Diaper Change 2011 was conceived and organized by a small group of cloth diaper enthusiasts eager to demonstrate that cloth diapers are a real option for today’s families.

The initial plan was to develop an infrastructure for cloth diapering devotees in North America to get involved, but it soon became apparent that cloth diapering had a considerable following not just in North America, but around the world. The Real Diaper Association (RDA) took on the greater organization of the GCDC in 2012. Sadly, the RDA closed in January 2018, but a group of volunteer veteran GCDC Hosts has committed to keeping the spirit of the GCDC alive and spreading the word about cloth diapering.

For this year’s GCDC, events can be scheduled on either day and at any time over the weekend of April 27-28. All you need is a 100% reusable cloth diaper to change your child into. There are currently 230 locations registered in 16 countries. Check here to see if there’s an event near you.

Connect on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

If you can’t find a GCDC event near you, why not sign up to host one? Host registration is now open! Individual GCDC events can be any size, from a couple of friends on a playdate to a big public event. All you have to do is complete your free registration on the GCDC website.
