Celebrate the Holidays with Max and Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite

If you have preschool kids like me, chances are pretty good you’re familiar with Max and Ruby. This pair of bunny siblings has been entertaining little ones since the 1970s, first in Rosemary Wells’ books, then on Treehouse TV in Canada and Nickelodeon in the US.

This year they can also be found celebrating the holidays in Koba Entertainment‘s live production of Max and Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite. The show premiered in 2012, but since last year’s tour never made it out west, we’ve been anxiously awaiting this one for two years. My little ones are so excited that Max and Ruby are on their way to our hometown, and I’m really looking forward to introducing them to The Nutcracker ballet in a kid-friendly format!

Max & Ruby

From the website:

“It’s Christmas Eve, and Ruby is busy trimming the tree, while Max is chasing the delicious scent of Grandma’s freshly baked gingerbread cookies! A knock at the door reveals a huge parcel from their Great Uncle Drosselmeyer. As the package is unwrapped, Ruby realizes that each new toy is from the story of the Nutcracker Ballet, including a Nutcracker doll!

As Grandma reads the story of the Nutcracker, their imaginations whisk them away to a magical land where they become characters in the beloved ballet. Dancing, singing and delicious treats follow, as the bunny pair experiences the wonder and excitement of the classic Nutcracker story. Whether it was the sweets, or their lively imaginations, the bunny siblings head off to bed with visions of candy canes dancing in their heads!

Max & Ruby’s adventure, guided by the classic notes of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, is full of delectable dance and holiday magic perfect for the whole family.”

This year’s 22-city tour starts out on Vancouver Island then travels through BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan before heading south of the border to Indiana, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Here in the Lower Mainland we’re lucky enough to have 4 dates to choose from:

Bring the kiddos for a new holiday tradition! Visit Max and Ruby on Tour for more tour info and to get your tickets before they sell out!
