2013 Holiday Gift Guide

I’ve been a dedicated babywearing mama since my oldest was born three and a half years ago. Tee remembers being carried by Mommy and Daddy, and she sees her baby sister being worn all the time. Like every preschooler, she wants to be just like her Mommy. Until now, she’s used one of my knit scarves as a pretend stretchy wrap. Fun for Tee, but less than ideal for my scarf! So when I saw this doll carrier in Whyknotmom’s Etsy shop, I knew right away it would make a fantastic gift for Tee.

The doll carrier Whyknotmom sent us is reversible. It’s black on one side and hot pink with lighter pink stars on the other, which makes it two carriers in one! The fixed-length chest strap unclips for easy on and off, and it has two snaps on each arm strap to adjust their length. The waist strap is easy adjustable and closes with a side release buckle. There is a lot of room in the waist strap for both smaller and bigger kids, though I wish it came with some way to tuck the extra webbing out of the way. This doll carrier is similar in style to an Ergo or Beco baby carrier (I’m wearing a Beco in the picture), and it’s worn the same way.

She loves the pink starry fabric and can easily carry her dolls in a back carry or front carry, though she prefers to back carry. We’ve tried out her doll carrier with several dolls and stuffed animals, and we found the smaller ones fit better and are less likely to fall out when she’s running around.

Tee loves her carrier, and this mama loves how it encourages role playing and imaginative play. It’s just so adorable too! This would be a such a wonderful present for your 2-6 year old, especially a new big sister or brother!

About Whyknotmom

WhyknotmomThe inspiration for these doll carriers came after Whyknotmom owner Ashlee had her second child.  Before she ventured out for her first walk with both kids, not wanting her eldest to feel left out, she made a quick doll carrier and off they went. After a mom on a community Facebook page put out a request for a doll carrier, Ashlee decided to improve upon her design and sell them, and that was the beginning of Whyknotmom. Now, Ashlee and her friend, Andrea, are the two crafty moms who make up the Whyknotmom team.

Whyknotmom makes all sorts of gift-worthy items like baby carrier strap covers, newborn photo props, art totes, hats, and crochet stuffed animals.
