Robyn Hardy and Lorraine Pond are local West Coast children’s music duo Bobs & Lolo. We saw the pair live in concert a couple of years ago, and I still remember how much fun Tee had at her very first concert. I couldn’t stop tapping my toes, and Tee couldn’t stop dancing in place. Whenever Bobs & Lolo’s music videos come on Treehouse, my girls always get up and dance!
And that’s what I love most about Bobs & Lolo’s music. It gets my kids moving and grooving, along with teaching them about the natural world around them. From their very first gigs at the Vancouver Aquarium, Bobs & Lolo have aspired to engage, inspire, and teach kids about themselves, their neighbours, and the planet.
Bobs & Lolo just released their sixth album, Dirty Feet, and the catchy songs continue!
Music just makes things more fun! Whether we’re tidying up, going on a long car ride, or doing some baking, we love to add music to the mix! And on a rainy afternoon? The minute I hear, “I’m bored,” I put on some music and throw a dance party!
Check out the catchy title track from Dirty Feet! Tee won’t stop singing, “Dirty feet, dirty feet, dirty feet…”
I’ve always appreciated the positive messages that Bobs & Lolo’s music passes along. Some of our favourites off the Dirty Feet album include “Hoot and Hop,” the story of an owl and a frog who become fast friends, despite their differences. “Run Salmon Run” teaches kids about the salmon life cycle – I like the throwback to Bobs & Lolo’s Aquarium roots. And remember those dance parties? “Got the Wiggles” is my favourite number to get the kids going!
This long weekend we headed out to the beach for some fun in the sun. We hunted for shells, we splashed in the water, we built a sandcastle, and yep, you guessed it, we got dirty feet! Like Bobs & Lolo, we know dirty feet are a sign that summer fun is going on. And yes, of course we listened to Bobs & Lolo on the ride to and from Crescent Beach!
Get your Dirty Feet album digitally at iTunes, at retail (HMV), or from the Bobs & LoLo website. Bobs & LoLo are currently on tour, and there might even be a show near you! Learn more and check upcoming tour dates on Facebook.
