Over the last few weeks I’ve been feeling more and more overwhelmed and off balance. This time of year should be about family and togetherness, but instead I feel like I’m constantly behind and trying to catch up. I feel like there’s no time for the things I want to do, no time to sleep. I feel pulled in several different directions. There’s always something more to do, an errand to run, a place to be.
I know that no matter how difficult it is to find the time, I have to take some time for myself every day. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, I need that breather to catch my balance. Sitting down for just a little while and savouring a cup of hot tea is that little bit of me time when I can refocus amid the day to day chaos of parenting two kids, working, homemaking, blogging, preparing for the holidays, and just life in general.
But what if there were teas specially crafted to support that need? Tetley Ayurvedic Balance teas were inspired by Ayurveda, a 5,000 year old system of knowledge that teaches that balance is essential for our well being. That balance may look different for each person, and Ayurveda offers tools to help us maintain that unique balance of the three doshas or elemental substances, called Vata (air and space), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (water and earth).
(Ever wondered what dosha you are? You can take this little quiz here to help you determine which dosha is most strongly influencing you today.)
Made with all natural and caffeine-free herbal ingredients, each Tetley Ayurvedic Balance tea is specially blended to meet a specific need.
Invigorating Vigour-Kapha helps stimulate you when you’re feeling sluggish with ginger root, tulsi, peppermint, spearmint, clove, turmeric, and cumin. I’ve been having a peppery cup of Vigour-Kapha around 3 pm, my afternoon slump time, to help me stay sharp at work.
Cool-Pitta helps you calm down when you feel overheated with peppermint, hibiscus, spearmint, lemon balm, coriander, and lavender.
Calming Poise-Vata is made with cinnamon bark, chamomile, fennel, tulsi, licorice root, orange peels, and cardamom to help you focus when you’re feeling scattered or worried. This warm and spicy blend is my go-to tea right now when I’m stressed out and need to take a breather. Because there’s no caffeine, I can enjoy a cup at any time of the day or night and not have to worry about it interfering with my sleep. (And seriously, I need all the sleep I can get!)
I know things are only going to get busier, so it’s important to keep taking those little breaks for myself. I want to encourage all of you to find time for yourselves too. We need to feel balanced to be happy and healthy, both for ourselves and for our families. So grab a book, put up your feet, and enjoy a cup of Tetley!
