Every time the new year rolls around, I swear that I’m going to make big changes. I tell myself this is the year I’m going to start going to the gym three times a week. I’m going to be back to my pre-baby weight by bikini season. This year I’m going to create a detailed meal plan every week and cook homemade organic meals every day. This year I’m going to run a half marathon. (Ha! Not really, Even I’m not that starry-eyed). These are all great goals, but from over here they feel unreachable. They’re just too damn big.
I know I’m not the only one who finds it challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s the most common New Year’s resolution, yet 86% of Canadians agree they never stick to their resolutions, and many don’t even try because it’s just too hard to stay on track. I have to admit I don’t have the greatest track record myself when it comes to this. (When you hear me talk about running, I guarantee you it’s because I’m running late, not running a marathon!)
That’s why I’ve decided to go smaller this year. I’m going to start by taking the dog for a walk after dinner and refocusing on serving home cooked meals six days a week. If some nights those are home cooked leftovers, that’s okay (great, in fact). If that seventh meal is delivery or a smoothie on the go, that’s okay too. Because one of the most important things I’ve learned over the years is to be gentle with myself. Even if I don’t follow through on my goals today, that doesn’t mean I can’t tomorrow. Or as Voltaire said, “The perfect is the enemy of the good.”
Because I’m not perfect, I’ve also decided to add some supplements to my healthy routine. I do my best, but I know it’s not always possible to eat the ideal diet all the time. That’s why 60% of my fellow Canadians don’t get all the essential nutrients they need from diet alone. It can be challenging to figure out which ones to take though. Which ones do I actually need and when should I take them? Where do I start?
Fortunately for me, Jamieson, known as Canada’s leading provider of natural health products, has taken the guess work out of it. They’ve identified four evidence-based products that the average Canadian should consider taking every day: Jamieson 100% Complete Multivitamins for Adults, Jamieson Extra Strength Omega-3, Jamieson Probiotic 10 Billion, and Jamieson Vitamin D. These four Jamieson Essentials™ provide a good foundation for healthier living by supporting digestive, heart, bone, and overall health.
I’ll be sharing updates on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Follow along as I kick off 2017 with a healthier me! If you’d like to join me, you can grab this coupon for $2 off the purchase of any Jamieson Essentials product.
What about you? Let me know what you’re doing to feel better this year!

Good idea to start small! I’m trying to cut out the sugar this month too. This is the program that I use: http://whole30.com/whole30-program-rules/
I love Jamieson vitamins as well. Our cupboard is stocked up this year and one of my faves is the vitamin c with zinc for when I am starting to feel under the weather.
I’ve started with fish oil, vitamine d and probiotics as well! Winters here in Michigan are hard and supplements definately help!
