You guys already know that we’re (mostly) gluten-free in our house, but it’s not just the humans. Our keeshond Kallie has been gluten-free and grain-free for the last few years too, and her digestive system is thankful for it. This is what a happy dog looks like!
But it wasn’t always that way. Way back when, she was not a happy dog, and we were not happy pet parents. For months and months our poor doggie had diarrhea multiple times a week. There wasn’t anything wrong with her medically, so we started experimenting with different foods to help her digestive system. I read about the benefits of a raw food diet like a shinier coat, healthier skin, more energy, and smaller, firmer stools, but with a busy family and work schedule, frankly I didn’t think I had the time or energy to do it. Commercial grain-free kibble in a bag was just so much easier (no mess, no fuss!) and more economical.
And that’s where things stood until recently, when I learned about a new grain-free dog and cat food from Nutrience® now available at PetSmart® that offers the best of both worlds. Nutrience Subzero™ combines grain-free protein-rich kibble with freeze-dried raw meat to deliver the nutritional benefits of raw food in a convenient & easy to use package.
I feed my family high quality, unprocessed food because I want what’s best for them. Kallie’s a part of our family too, so why would it be any different for her? Nutrience says their pet food has “No Bad Anything,” and just a quick look at the ingredients list confirms that. No fillers, no corn, no wheat, no soy, no by-products, and no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives.
Subzero is made with fresh Canadian sourced raw meat, poultry, and Pacific wild-caught fish, infused with four key Nutriboost™ ingredients for optimal health, then gently freeze-dried to lock in its natural goodness. I love that this is a truly Made in Canada high quality dog food. It’s made right here in BC in fact!
Subzero comes in three regionally-inspired formulas:
- Canadian Pacific – Fresh wild-caught Pacific salmon, herring, hake, sole, cod, and Arrowtooth flounder.
- Fraser Valley – Fresh deboned chicken, turkey, wild-caught Pacific salmon, herring, and cod.
- Prairie Red – Fresh beef, wild boar, bison, wild-caught Pacific salmon, herring, and cod.
Each bag contains grain-free kibble, freeze-dried raw protein, and Nutriboost with these key nutritionally beneficial ingredients:
- Green-Lipped Mussels – A natural anti-inflammatory to support joint health
- Pacific Cod Liver – A rich source of omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy skin & coat
- Pumpkin – A good source of dietary fiber to support digestion
- Acadian Kelp – A variety of seaweed loaded with natural antioxidants to support a healthy immune system
Now that it’s so easy to give Kallie the nutritional benefits of raw food, I’m going to have to give this a try. After all, we want her to be a part of our family for a long time to come!
Are you curious too? Head over to your local PetSmart on Saturday, November 28 to learn more and to try Subzero at their national demo event. Connect with PetSmart on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Try Subzero for Zero! (Or, How to Get a Free Bag)
If you’re already feeding grain-free, here’s a great opportunity to try Subzero for yourself. All this month, bring an empty bag of a competitor’s grain-free food into PetSmart and get a free bag of Nutrience Subzero!
A free bag to try, what a great opportunity for dog owners. On a similar note, is your dog a Keeshound? Your kids really seem to love your pet.
Yes, she’s a keeshond, and she’s so patient with the kids loving on her!
Your children are gorgeous and they look so content and happy. Thanks for sharing!
I would love to try a free bag. Is this national or regional, I just tried looking at their website but didn’t see anything about it.
I believe it’s national. I think there’s info in their flyers, but check your local PetSmart. The in store event is this Saturday. 🙂
I was wondering how they could make raw food for pets that does not require refrigeration, now I understand! Freeze dried is amazing! Pets evolved off raw food, this is probably so much healthier for them!
Great info, I’m sending the link to my neighbour, this just might be a good option for her dog as she’s been feeding him grain-free food for the past few months. Thanks for sharing the info!
I was just at PetSmart yesterday actually and they were telling us all about this amazing new dog food! They didn’t tell us about the promotion though, so thanks for letting me know!
That is an amazing deal and I am telling all my Canadian dog loving friends!
Will have to bring my empty Acana bag into PetSmart on my next visit.
Cool this is a new brand for me. I feed my pets Zero grain pet food. I have not heard of a “raw” food diet for pets that comes in a bag. I may give this a try.
