Anyone with kids probably already knows just how popular the video game Fortnite is. But for anyone who isn’t in the know yet, Fortnite is a massive multiplayer online game from Epic Games. Kids can play in three different modes. Save the World is a cooperative shooter-survival mode with up to 4-person squads battling zombies. Battle Royale is a player versus player game with up to 100 players fighting it out to be the last one left standing. And the newest mode, Creative, allows players to create their own worlds and battle arenas.
NERF and Epic Games have partnered to create a entire collection of NERF blasters inspired by Fortnite. My kids don’t actually play Fortnite, but they don’t care. These NERF blasters are tons of fun either way, and with summer right around the corner, the Super Soakers are a welcome addition to our outdoor toys.
We’ve had a gorgeous stretch of hot, sunny weather lately, so the kids have been spending as much time as they can outside. They’ve been having a great time racing around the neighbourhood on their bikes, hanging around at the playground, and of course having water fights!
Here’s what we’ve been playing with! These Fortnite Super Soakers are best for kids 6 and up, though the bigger Super Soaker might be awkward for smaller kids to use.
The NERF Super Soaker Fortnite HC-E water blaster ($12.99) holds up to 219 ml (7.4 fluid oz) of water. I love that all the NERF Super Soakers are easy for the kids to use without any adult help. Open the cap, fill the tank, then pull the trigger to send a stream of water at your targets.
NERF Super Soaker Fortnite HC-E water blaster
The NERF Super Soaker Fortnite RL water blaster ($24.99) is inspired by the rocket launcher used in Fortnite and holds up to 275 ml (9.3 fluid oz) of water. Dunk the front of the blaster into a bucket of water, pull back the handle to suck water into the tank, then aim and push in the handle to shoot a huge stream of water.

You’ll only get one big splash before you’ll need to refill, so keep your bucket of water handy!
The NERF Super Soaker Fortnite TS-R water blaster ($24.99) is modeled after Fortnite’s tactical shotgun. It holds a generous liter (36 fluid oz) of water, and it’s easy to fill and easy to fire. Pop the cap open to fill the tank, then move the pump-handle back and forth to shoot out stream after stream of water, easily reaching 7.5 meters (24.6 feet). It’s a lot of fun, but compared to the other water blasters, this one would be a bit big and heavy for younger kids when filled up all the way.
NERF Super Soaker Fortnite TS-R water blaster
NERF’s Fortnite collection boasts more than just Super Soakers though. You’ll also find NERF dart blasters inspired by other fan favourite weapons used in Fortnite. Projectiles, even foam ones, mean that these are best for kids 8 years and up.
The battery-powered NERF Fortnite AR-L Nerf Elite Dart Blaster ($69.99) looks like it’s modeled on the Siegebreaker/SCAR weapon from Fortnite. It comes with a removable 10-dart clip, 20 foam darts, and two sights on the top of the blaster. Power up the motor with the acceleration button and pull the trigger to shoot one dart at a time. The AR-L requires 4 AA batteries required, not included.
The NERF Fortnite SP-L Nerf Elite Dart Blaster ($29.99) has a detachable barrel for different ways to play. Attach the barrel for distance targeting, or remove the barrel when you need a more compact feel for smaller play areas or when you need to move fast and stay mobile. The SP-L holds three darts before you need to reload and comes with six darts total.
NERF Fortnite MicroShots Dart-Firing Toy Blasters ($12.99 each) are a series of collectible, mini-sized NERF toy blasters: the MicroShots TS (red/white/grey), the Microshots RL (green/orange/grey), and the MicroShots Llama. These little shrunken down blasters are super fun and super cute! You load one dart into the front of the blaster, pull down the handle to prime, and pull the trigger to fire. Comes packaged with 2 darts.
