Do you remember this song?
“Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old mother nature’s recipes
That bring the bare necessities of life.”
I’ve been humming along all week! The Disney Vault has opened and The Jungle Book is now available on Blu-ray for the first time. This classic movie, first released in 1967, was the last Disney film produced by Walt Disney himself.
When I was a little girl, I had an orange Disney cassette tape (yes, a cassette!) with “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wanna Be Like You” on it. I haven’t watched The Jungle Book in years, and I was really excited to share this with Tee and Kay for the first time. I was impressed that I still remembered the words to both those songs. But if you don’t know all the words, you can always sing along with the Bear-e-oke feature.
I already knew I would love The Jungle Book Blu-ray, but I wasn’t sure how the girls would respond. This movie comes from a different era. It’s more story-driven and less non-stop action and slapstick comedy like a lot of modern kids’ movies. Turns out I had nothing to worry about though. Tee loved it, and even Kay sat quietly through most of the movie!
“Now for the first time ever on Blu-ray with glorious digital high definition, Disney’s Jumpin’ Jungle Classic has never looked so lush or sounded so good! Beloved characters, swinging music and new behind-the-scenes bonus features make this Diamond Edition Blu-ray a must-have for every family’s classic collection!
“Meet the most unforgettable characters and embark on a thrilling adventure with Mowgli as he journeys deep into the jungle and learns “The Bare Necessities” of life from happy-go-lucky Baloo the bear. Meet Bagheera, the wise old panther, and crazy King Louie, the orangutan. But watch out for the cunning tiger Shere Khan and Kaa, the ssssneakiest snake in the jungle!
“Explore your family’s wild side as you venture into The Jungle Book for extraordinary adventures and a heartwarming tale that celebrates the true meaning of friendship.”
