I’m thankful for my family. I am blessed with a wonderful, loving, supportive husband and two beautiful, precocious little girls who are constantly forcing me to grow into a better mother.
I’m thankful for our extended family and friends who love us and love our children. If anything were to happen to us, I know our children would be provided for with unstinting love and care.
I’m thankful we have the financial resources to allow me to stay at home with my children right now. I know there are so many families that don’t have the luxury of a choice.
I’m thankful I live in a country where women and children have legal protections and civil rights.
I’m thankful that we are all healthy, and if that should ever change, I’m thankful I never have to worry about how I will pay for medical care for myself or my family.
I’m thankful I have access to a near infinite storehouse of information, all at my fingertips. It’s difficult for me to remember what it was like to have to look through the card catalogue at the local library to find a reference book that might or might not have the information I’m looking for. Or better yet, microfiche. Remember microfiche? Remember turning the little knob and pushing the carriage back and forth to scroll the viewer across the film? Feels pretty medieval, doesn’t it?
I’m thankful for my washing machine and dryer. These modern conveniences make my life so much easier.
I’m thankful for my baby carrier, naps, and apples. These also make my life easier.
I’m thankful for Jim Henson.
I’m thankful for this long weekend to catch up on some extra sleep and downtime with my family.
And finally, I’m thankful for stuffing and pumpkin pie too!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! What are you thankful for?
Im grateful for very similar things and so much more. My husband takes great care of me and baby. I get speechless and full of joy when I think about it. We actually couldn’t afford for me to stay home but I am anyway because we trust in God and we wouldnt have it any other way. Being here to take care of my family has been worth the sacrifice. 🙂
It is hard, but like you we agreed it’s worth it.
Very nicely said Olivia! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours 🙂
Thanks! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving too!
Great list. I’m certainly thankful we don’t have to use microfiche anymore. I was so scared of it my first year of university. LOL
But I’m certainly thankful for my son. I never knew it was possible to love someone so much.
Thanks, Stephanie. It’s hard to believe that was how your average person looked up info, and not that long ago either!
Have a great thanksgiving, and i’m grateful for jim hensen as well! 🙂
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
What a lovely blog post–Happy Thanksgiving! I’m tremendously thankful for our 5 children. Most days I feel that they test me, but I don’t regret the person I have become with them. Now that they’re getting a bit older (my youngest is 3.5, my oldest is 8), I am getting a bit of my “old self” back, and I think there is room for the old me and the new me! 🙂
Thank you, Jenna. I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving! I’m in the throes of being tested right now! Glad to be reminded there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂
I’m thankful for my son. He brings so much joy into my life!
Absolutely – our kids make life beautiful. 🙂
