Getting ready for the holidays means a lot of clean-up. We have friends and family visiting, my birthday, Christmas dinner…but just because the holidays are coming, that doesn’t mean our regular everyday messes don’t keep piling up in the meantime. Muddy paw and boot prints, crumbs, dog hair, bits of dried up play dough, spills…it’s hard work trying to keep our floors clean from day to day, let alone for holiday entertaining. Anything that helps save me time and work is welcome over here!

Then you’ll love Hoover’s ONEPWR FloorMate Jet Hard Floor Cleaner. It vacuums and washes hard floors AT THE SAME TIME.
I can clean the kitchen floor, bathrooms, hallways, and all the other hard floors in my house with this one tool in so much less time than it used to take to vacuum and then mop.
The secret is in the soft microfiber brush roll. It rotates to gently clean the floor without soaking while the powerful vacuum sucks up dirt and dirty water at the same time. The FloorMate Jet comes with two brush rolls: the multi-surface brush roll has rows of soft nylon bristles along its length for extra scrubbing power, and the gentle brush roll leaves out the nylon for use on hardwood and other sensitive floor types.
This isn’t for floors with stuck-on dirt that need hard scrubbing, but for wet spills, dry spills, or for everyday cleaning, it’s genius. You only need the one tool, and it’s cordless so it’s even more convenient. You can use cleaning solution (the box comes with a small sample bottle to try), but I’ve also used just plain water. Adding a 1/4 cup white vinegar to the water really cuts through dirt or any greasy residue on the floor from food. (Be cautious using vinegar on stone or ceramic tiles as a too acidic solution can etch into the surface of the tile).
I was shocked at how dirty the water was after cleaning what I thought was my clean(ish) kitchen floor. It was gross, but the FloorMate Jet has separate compartments for for clean water and one for dirty water, so you’re always washing with clean water.
One more cool feature of the FloorMate Jet is that it also refreshes area rugs. Again, it’s not meant for a deep shampoo, but if your rug is smelling a little musty or looking kinda dingy on the surface, it’s worth a quick pass with this. Mine sure needed it!
Once you’re finished, it’s easy peasy to clean the microfiber roller, and hands free no less! Just dock the FloorMate Jet on the included rinse tray, add clean water, then turn it on for 15 seconds. Make sure to dump the dirty water tank and you’re done.
The latest version of the FloorMate Jet comes with a 4.0 Ah Lithium-Ion battery which runs for just under 30 minutes on the Eco setting and takes about 3 hours to recharge. (Battery life on the High setting is noticeably less.) That’s enough to clean my kitchen floor, my dining room, and front hallway.
One note of caution: Be sure to double check which battery is in the box before you buy. I’ve seen lots of older models with the 3.0 Ah battery, but you want the 4.0 Ah version.
