Cloth Diapering Giveaways

Geffen Baby Hemp Jersey Prefold Cloth Diaper and Super Absorbers Review

For my first new product review, Olivia introduced me to Geffen Baby, a U.S. cloth diaper company that boasts a unique fabric blend of 60% hemp and 40% organic cotton. This highly absorbent formula effectively increases the performance of multiple diapering systems and can be safely placed directly against your baby’s skin—a major win for my sensitive little guy.

Geffen Baby on the bum

You’ll have to pardon the headphones…it’s a thing right now.

For the last several weeks I’ve been circulating a few of their Super Absorbers and one of their Jersey Prefolds through our diaper rotation, and I’d like to share a few things that make Geffen Baby stand out from the crowd.

Geffen Baby Jersey Hemp Prefold & Super Absorbers review

Initial Thoughts

The very first thing I noticed is how RIDICULOUSLY SOFT their products are, and after multiple wears and washes, they still feel great. The jersey prefold is particularly comforting, like your favorite t-shirt.

The sizes seemed pretty large when they first arrived in the mail, but the website very clearly indicated that there would be 10% to 15% shrinkage after washing, so I wasn’t worried. If anything, I think I would have opted for even larger sizes to accommodate this natural shrinking process.

Super Absorbers

The Super Absorbers, which started at 5.5”x13”, are now 5.25”x11.25”, an overall difference of about 4.5% widthwise and 13.5% lengthwise. The shrinkage meant that I was unable to use them by themselves as simple inserts inside covers, but I’m glad to say that their high-performance absorbency made them a perfect candidate for overnight use as doublers. For a larger option, I would go with their Super Absorbers Plus which start out at a length of 17”.

Jersey Prefolds

The medium/large Jersey Prefold had even greater shrinkage of about 20% lengthwise (from 16″ to 12.75″) but just half an inch widthwise (3%). This size ended up working perfectly for us though. I pad fold it and lay it inside a cover, and there is enough excess fabric to fold over a few inches in the front for extra absorption right where my son needs it. These prefolds don’t have the traditional strip of extra layers in the middle, but this doesn’t affect the performance at all. Every time I pick it up, I’m surprised by the heavy-duty feel of the fabric compared to other prefolds. These things mean business! I like to use ours during nap times as it easily handles the absorption alone without the need for an additional insert.

The Geffen Baby medium/large size prefold is about an inch wider than my traditional cotton prefolds, but it didn’t add any additional bulk to Brooks’ diaper, and it definitely worked harder for us than plain cotton. Although the material is a lot heavier, we haven’t had any issues with sagging as long as the cover is a good fit.

The Verdict

I would definitely recommend Geffen Baby to anyone who struggles with bad bouts of rash like we do. The 60% hemp content has so many great benefits. Along with super fast absorption and wicking, it has antimicrobial and anti-mildew properties. They design their products to fit with any cloth diaper brand, so they are very easy to work into your rotation if you’re looking for higher performance in your diaper stash.

  • We’ve been really wanting to try Geffen prefolds and absorbers; I hear so many fantastic reviews about them! We would love to try a small jersey prefold and the quick absorbers plus!

  • I would choose the xl fleece pre-fold and the super absorbers plus.
I have some of the quick and the super absorbers, I love them, they are so trim. My only complaint is the drying time but the performance makes up for it.

  • I’ve heard so many great things about geffen product and I’ve been really wanting to try them since then! I would choose the med/large fleece prefold and super absorbers plus!

  • I’d choose the m/l jersey prefolds as they’d probably last the longest since my second is just 4 months old. I’d also choose the high absorbers since they are a jersey and fleece blend and are 100% organic!

  • I would choose the Super Absorbers. That picture is so cute. It looks like he plugged his headphones into the moose and is singing along to the music.

  • I’d love to try the Jersey Prefold Diapers Small (Green Trim), even though baby girl is 7 months old, and the Super Absorbers (3 Pack).

  • Love Geffen Baby! I’d choose the Super Absorbers Plus (our favorite for pockets) and a Med/large jersey prefold (what I’ve been wanting to try in a pocket).

  • I think the m/l Jersey Prefolds and and the Super Absorbent would suit us best. Thanks for the chance to win!

  • We absolutely love our Geffen prefolds. We mostly pad fold and lay them in our covers, but they still fit our son as a prefold nicely (he just wiggles too much so I don’t usually try anymore haha). Love how absorbent and soft they are, we definitely need to add more to our slowly growing stash. I would choose a medium/large jersey prefold and the super absorbers.

  • I love my Geffen jersey prefolds (smells) that I have already! I’d love to get the med/large size jersey prefold and super absorbers to try & add to my stash!

  • I would actually want the hemp jersey and the super absorbers that you reviewed, especially since you also have a sensitive skinned child.

  • I would love to try the Super Absorbers and the Super Absorber Plus. I’m (desperately) seeking the perfect solution for night time for my little princess.

  • We have the Geffen Baby Quick Absorbers and I looove them as boosters with our overnight prefolds and prefitteds. If I won, I would go for some Super Absorbers Plus to use as inserts in some of our pockets and for the Jersey Hemp prefolds in med/large for my 5 month old chunk!

  • I always hear awesome things about Geffen Baby! I’ve got to get my hands on some of their prefolds soon. If I won, I’d choose M/L Jersey Prefolds and Super Absorbers. Thanks for the chance!

  • I have been wanting to try Geffen fleece prefolds for quite some time and this would be so exciting to win! I would choose the small fleece prefolds (green thread) as I have heard they are the perfect size to trifold and lay in a cover. For an extra boost I would pair that with the High absorbers that have a wicking fleece top and amazing absorbtion!

  • Since you said they shrink so much I’d probably get the med/lg prefold, and the super or quick absorbers plus. Which depends on whether or not the fleece gets really stiff when it’s wet (I’ve noticed this with many, but not all, brands). If they do I’d go with jersey for both, if not then I I’d probably get fleece for both, or maybe jersey prefold and super plus (which sounds like a lady product, lol).

  • I would definitely try the jersey prefold in medium/large, and the super absorbers plus. Still haven’t found that 100% leak proof night time solution and these might be the ticket.

  • if i won i would choose the pakistani prefolds and the super absorber. im hoping to make little ones stash mostly prefolds so this would be great

  • I would love to try the Geffen Baby High Absorber and a Jersey prefold. We have their newborn absorbers and they work great for small newborns!

  • I think I would choose the Jerey Prefold Diapers Small (green trim). I would probably also choose the High Absorbers (3 pack).
