FlipSize Helps You Stretch Your Dollar

I love getting a good deal! Who doesn’t, right? I love deal hunting at my local kids swap where I can pick up gently used clothing for my kids at a fraction of the retail price. I know we’re in the age of online shopping, but I’ve never seriously considered buying used clothes online because I only want clothes in new or near new condition. I like to see them in person to make sure I don’t get stuck with stained or ripped clothing.

But I’ve changed my mind. Just before Christmas I had the chance to check out FlipSize Canada, an online used kids’ clothing store.

FlipSize buys, sells, and swaps children’s clothing from sizes 12 months to 12 years. Shoes too. The thing that caught my attention right off the bat was their “No Dud” promise that guarantees every piece they sell is in new or like-new condition with no stains, fading, tears, pilling, missing buttons, broken zippers, pet hair, or odors.

I ordered twelve items of clothing for my girls including seven dresses, two pairs of jeans, a sweater, a T-shirt, and snow pants for Kay, all for under $50. Wow! I took this screenshot to show you everything I got.

When I received them, they were all in fantastic condition. I’m pretty picky about things like this, so I was quite impressed that every item really was exactly as described – no duds!

This outfit was $4.50 for the Pumpkin Patch sweater and $3.00 for the Gymboree jeans. Tee loved the little cupcakes embroidered on the jeans!

And I also picked up this cute Old Navy sundress for Kay next summer for $4.00.

I would especially recommend FlipSize for holiday and fancy dresses. Tee wore this Santa dress for one of our Christmas dinners. But you know, she only wore it once, and it’s pretty unlikely she’ll wear it again before she outgrows it. Sure, I can hand it down to Kay, but again, it’s not like there will be a whole lot of occasions other than Christmas where she’ll wear it either. $5 instead of $30 for a dress that will only be worn two or three times sounds good to me!

The prices are comparable to those at my kids swap, but I don’t have to drag the kids along with me, and I don’t have to constantly watch for them wandering away. I can shop from the comfort of my couch whenever I want to. That’s a win in my book!

What About Flipping?

FlipSize bagNow I haven’t tried selling any of our old clothes to FlipSize yet, but the process seems pretty straightforward. You just request an empty bag and it arrives with a pre-paid shipping label. Fill it with the clothes you want to sell and mail it in from any Canada Post location.

Your clothes are processed within three days of arrival, and then you get an email notifying you of how many points you earned, any items not accepted, and the reason for non-acceptance. Then you can redeem your points for Paypal cash, store credit, or even a gift card to Amazon, Babies R Us, or Toys R Us!
