Does Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara Live Up to the Hype?

We all have certain physical features that we like best, and others that are maybe a little lower on the list. Me, I’ve always liked my long hair and I secretly think I have nice-shaped lips, but ever since I was a teenager, I’ve cursed my short, stubby little eyelashes. Because I usually wear glasses, my eyes look even less defined. So I’m always on the lookout for a better mascara to give my eyelashes the long, lush look I crave.

Last year I started to see this new product, Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara, on social media and my curiosity was piqued. Honestly, I was skeptical about the whole thing and assumed it was just another unrealistic sales pitch. Every mascara I’ve ever tried has promised me 10X THE VOLUME! and 5X THE LENGTH! but I’ve never actually gotten those promised results. So I was really curious to test the seemingly outrageous claims being made about these 3D Fiber Lashes.

3D Fiber Lashes closed case

I recently connected with Melanie, a Younique presenter based in Ontario, Canada, and she offered me the opportunity to test out 3D Fiber Lashes for myself and share my honest results with all of you.

Right off the bat, I have to say I loved the luxe case and presentation! 3D Fiber Lash requires 2 products – Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers – so this pretty case also helps keep the two tubes together.

3D Fiber Lashes open case

I followed the simple instructions and started by putting on my regular mascara. Nothing special here. It’s actually a little hard to tell I’m even wearing mascara on my left eye.

before - mascara only

Then I applied the Transplanting Gel. The gel looked and went on like mascara. While the gel was still wet, I immediately ran the fuzzy Natural Fibers wand through my lashes. (Pro tip: Do one eye at a time so the gel doesn’t dry before applying the fiber wand.)

Younique gel & fiber

Whoa. All of a sudden my eyelashes were noticeably longer and fuzzier. I put on a second coat of Transplanting Gel to smooth and seal the fibers, did the same on my bottom lashes, and this was what I ended up with!

Younique 3D Fiber Lashes

I have to emphasize that I only used one coat of 3D Fiber Lashes, and the difference was truly remarkable! I like to keep my look fairly natural, but for ridiculously long and dramatic lashes, you can do a second or even a third coat.

At first I only did one eye so I could compare. I showed hubs, and he asked me why I was squinting. What? Oh right. No, I’m not squint eyed! The eye with the 3D Fiber Lashes just looked so much larger and more open. Here’s the obligatory before and after pic.

before and after

So I can tell you, 3D Fiber Lash Mascara absolutely does work just as advertised. Yes, it’s more expensive than drugstore mascara, but I think it’s worth it. I’ve never had eyelashes like these before, and I’m loving it! All that, and it washes off with just soap and water. I don’t use it every day, but whenever I’m going out or I want to look a little bit special, I pull out my case of 3D Fiber Lashes. If you’ve ever wanted long, luscious lashes, this is it!

  • Wow what a big difference it made, you have a whole new look with the 3D mascara, absolutely stunning!!!

    • I too was skeptical until I saw the before and after pics.Much more believable coming from a “regular gal”

  • Definitely a huge noticeable difference. My sister uses this as well, her lashes go on forever…

  • Wow! An acquaintance sells that stuff and I never knew if her pics were real or not (you know how that goes!). Thanks for the pics! I will definitely come back to try for a chance at winning, as I am on a budget, which unfortunately, does not include room for new makeup. Thanks!

  • Whoa! This looks awesome! I wear contact lenses, would that interfere with the mascara? It sounds like it’d really hurt if some of the natural fibers for in your eye….

    • Hmm, I don’t wear contacts so I can’t speak directly to that. I can tell you that I never noticed any irritation and I never got any fibers in my eye while I was using it. The fibers stick to the wand and to the gel, so as long as you make sure you seal them properly with a second coat of gel, I don’t see a problem.

  • This is one of the best reviews of a product I’ve ever seen! Your Younique rep Melanie should give you a bonus for writing it! I think because of it, she’ll be getting some sales of this mascara! I like how you explained each step & took a picture to show us how it looked. Job well done & I’m probably going to buy this mascara now because of you. Thanks!

  • Great review! It is really helpful. I would be skeptical of a product like this, but the fact that you took pictures of before and after really help prove that this product works as it should.

  • Nice. I have been wanting to try a fiber type mascara. I haven’t found a mascara I really like yet. It makes a big difference in the look of your lashes.

  • I always wanted to try this mascara it looks like it can do the job for me as I have thin eye lashes. I also love how they design this as they put it in a case.

  • I’ve always felt my eyes were my best feature, it’s the one part of my body I get compliments on regularly. I don’t wear make up on a day to day basis, but I do put on eyeliner at the very least..and a lot of the time mascara.

I love the results with the Younique. I haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet, but it certainly has be curious! Thank you so much for informative review, it’s very helpful when, at least for me, I’m thinking about spending so much money on 1 item of makeup!

  • Wow, that is a huge difference. I have been reading a lot of reviews about this and am dying to try it. Anything to help my blonde almost invisiable lashes.

  • excellent review, the difference in your lashes is amazing! i used to have long lush lashes and never really needed mascara but have noticed in past few years my lashes are thinner and not as thick, i think this would be a great product for me! Must try it!

  • I would so love to try this I have had a hard time fnding a good mascara to make my lashes look wonderful The mascara I have found clumps so much but makes my lashes stand out I dont wosh to have clumpy eyelashes I would love to win this

  • A very big and noticeable difference with the eyelashes
before and after~it is hard to believe until you see it for
    yourself

  • I know exactly what you’re talking about when you say you have very short and next to no lashes and nothing you try works. I used to get styes all of the time as a child and I’m exactly the same. I’d love to try this product. The results on you are outstanding

  • Wow, this mascara makes a dramatic difference. Just curious, since my eyes water a lot especially in the mornings or when it’s windy – is it waterproof? What about if you rub? And if you use it without regular mascara, does it still make a difference?

    • No, it isn’t waterproof, but I’ve noticed it seems to stick better than regular mascara. I don’t get raccoon eyes like I do with my regular mascara, so it does seem to be better about not transferring off. Yes, you can use 3D Lashes without regular mascara underneath. It will give you a more natural look, but it still works better than any other mascara I’ve tried.

  • I’ve heard that your products are amazing and have seen before and after pictures on your blog of others who have used your mascara and it looks amazing, I feel that your products would be well worth trying out.

  • I’ve heard so much about this mascara lately! So nice to see a review from a third party person. Your lashes look gorgeous!

  • I have heard of this mascara. I would really like to win so that I could try it. I lost all my eyelashes when I went thru chemo. When they grew back they are now very light & skimpy. Maybe this mascara would work for me!

  • That is truly an incredible difference. Thanks for posting the pictures showing the product on one eye only to make it easier to see.

  • I think this mascara makes a huge difference! I have the worst trouble when trying to apply fake lashes , so i think this might be the route for me!

  • Wow, that’s fantastic! I have been thinking of trying fake lashes again but I really can’t stand them, this may be the perfect solution. 🙂 Thanks for the review.

  • I too have short lashes and mine are stick straight so you can hardly see them. The before and after pictures are amazing. I wonder what they could do for mine ?

  • Wow! That is the best demo that I have seen! I am told that you can actually wear them for a couple of days, do you find that to be true?

    • Hmm, I didn’t know that. I always wash all my makeup off before bed so it never occurred to me to leave it on. Maybe I’ll try that next time and see what I wake up with!

  • I love that you showed all the steps. I was unsure of it until now. I’d love to try it.

  • I got a stye because of this 3d fiber lash mascara it was good at first I use it for 3 days straight and the 4th day I woke up with a stye now I’m going to sue the younqiue mascara

  • I liked it at first.
    A month later I have a stye.

I wash my face very well before bed
But I do have contacts so I dunno if that made a difference.

Its so bad I chucked that stuff
