Have you played on a PlasmaCar from PlaSmart yet? The award-winning PlasmaCar is a ride-on toy that harnesses the natural forces of inertia, centrifugal force, friction, and kid power. Just wiggle the steering wheel back and forth to drive the PlasmaCar without batteries, gears, or pedals, up to 10 kilometers an hour (6 miles an hour)!
We actually got a PlasmaCar three years ago, and it’s been a kid favourite ever since. When we brought it home, the boys next door couldn’t wait to take a turn, and it wasn’t long before their parents went out and picked one up. PlasmaCar madness swept through our neighbourhood, and at last count, there were six PlasmaCars just in our cul-de-sac alone. On any sunny day, you can expect to see at least two or three out on the road.
The reason for the popularity? Anyone can get out and play! It’s easy and intuitive to drive, and low enough to the ground that even the littlest kids feel safe. Even if they can’t quite figure out how to wiggle the steering wheel, it’s easy enough to push along with their feet and keep up with the big kids.
The PlasmaCar moves in an S-shaped path, and you steer with the wheel at the same time as you wiggle it. Just turn the wheel around 180 degrees to go in reverse. Rest assured this is a sturdy machine. After three years, our original PlasmaCar is still in great shape!
There’s even enough room for two on the PlasmaCar, as this picture from last summer can attest! Expect arguments over who gets to drive though…
Of course it’s winter now, but the PlasmaCar works just as well inside when the weather outside is frightful. You should be careful with wood floors that can get scratched up, but any smooth surface will do.
The part I love the most? The PlasmaCar is a toy for the whole family. Don’t let the kids fool you into thinking it’s just for them. It can hold up to 220 pounds, so adults can easily take a turn too. Why should kids get all the fun? Give it a try and I bet you’ll love it too!
