What Am I Thankful For?

Happy Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving weekend, it’s appropriate to think about all the things we are thankful for. To show gratitude and appreciation for the big and little things that enrich our lives. I wanted to share some of the things I’m thankful for, but this year I thought I’d ask my girls what they’re thankful for too.

Tee said, “I’m thankful for my sister and my family, my friends, my pets, my clothes, my books, my toys, and Band-aids.”

Kay was a little less articulate, but if she could understand being thankful, I’m sure it would be for mama milk, apples, and puzzles, in that order.

“I love my puzzles so much I sleep on them!”

And now me! First and foremost I’m thankful for my family – my amazingly patient and supportive husband and my two spirited girls who make every day an adventure.

I’m thankful for family and good friends who will babysit said girls so that hubs and I can have a night out alone once in a while.

I’m thankful for the personal connections and opportunities that have come my way because of this blog. This West Coast Mommy has grown so much over the last year, and I’m so grateful for the support of my readers!

I’m thankful I live close enough to walk my daughter to school. I’m VERY thankful the weather is hardly ever too inclement to take that walk. We might get wet, but we won’t freeze!

There’s a reason they call it the Wet Coast.

I’m thankful we can afford for me to stay home with my children. And at the same time, I’m thankful that I also have the flexibility to work out of the home part-time in my chosen profession. It’s all about balance!

I’m thankful for the fun we had all summer, and for the crisp fall weather and technicolour leaves we’ve been enjoying lately.

I’m thankful for caramelized sea salt macadamia nuts. Nom nom!

I’m thankful for e-books and my e-reader. I love that I can read in bed at night without waking anyone up.

And finally, I’m thankful I don’t have to cook Thanksgiving dinner. We’ve decided to go out for a big Thai food spread instead. After all, it’s not the food you eat, but the company you keep. And I’ll be in the best company of all.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! What are you thankful for?

  • Beautifully said! I loved the “and Band-aids.” from your daughter that she added to her list. Kids are always coming up with something to make you smile. Hope you’re jotting all these goodies down. 🙂
