Top eReading Trends for 2014 #ReadMore with Kobo!

I learned to read when I was very young, and I honestly can’t remember a time when I wasn’t a voracious reader. On more occasions than I can count I’ve accidentally read all night until the sun came up. Whoops! When eReaders first came out I wasn’t too sure about giving up the feel, the smell, and the experience of reading paper books. But then I had kids, and eventually I fell in love with the convenience of eBooks. With my Kobo Arc, I can read with the lights off, I can slip an entire library in my diaper bag, and I can read with one hand free while nursing.

But did you know you don’t actually have to have an eReader to get started? Kobo makes it easy to read eBooks on any device! All you have to do is download the free Kobo app for your desktop, iPhone/iPad, Android, Blackberry, Windows 8, or Windows 8 Phone and you’re ready to read! My eBook library is synchronized across all my devices, and when I open my current book on a new device it automatically gives me the option to sync up with where I left off on my last device.

I love the convenience. Just about any book I want is there instantly at the touch of my screen. Browse the Kobo store‘s over 4.2 million titles – that’s a lot of reading! The Kobo app learns from my reading history and suggests other books I might like. It does a pretty good job, and I’ve discovered plenty of new books in the Recommended Reads. I’m always curious what others are reading, so I was interested to check out Kobo’s Top 10 bestselling eBooks of 2014. Are any of these on your reading list?

I’ve heard so many good things about The Fault in Our Stars, and I’m kind of torn about whether to read the book first or watch the movie first. I usually prefer to read the book before the movie, but I’m thinking of making an exception in this case. Maybe I can convince hubby to watch it with me over the holidays. Has anybody read and seen both and want to weigh in?

My favourite genre to read is science fiction and fantasy, and the Divergent Series by Veronica Roth is already cued up on my reading list. I’m going to have some time off this Christmas, and I’m really looking forward to curling up on the couch and letting myself sink into these books. I’m clearly not the only one though, as Canadians read almost 300 million virtual pages on Kobo devices over the holidays last year. 16 million pages on Christmas Day alone! I bet some of those avid readers were enjoying a new eReader from under the tree. Well, this Christmas there’s a new must-have Kobo: the waterproof Kobo Aura H20!

#ReadMore with the new Kobo Aura H20!

The 6.8-inch HD Kobo Aura H2O is definitely on my wishlist this holiday. This is the first premium eReader with a waterproof and dustproof design so I can read anywhere I want. Flaps over the the charging port and MicroSD card slot protect the reader, even if it gets completely dunked underwater.

This eReader combines the extraordinarily long battery life and no glare reading of Carta E Ink technology, with the convenience of ComfortLight so you can continue reading after dark. I would never take my old eReader into the tub with me, but if I received this one (hint hint!), I could enjoy reading worry-free in the tub and at the beach next summer.
