The Secret Life of Pets on Blu-ray

The Secret Life of Pets

Have you ever wondered what your pets do when you’re not home? I know I have! That question is finally answered when The Secret Life of Pets comes to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ 3D, Blu-ray™, DVD and On Demand today.

The Secret Life of Pets 1

In their fifth fully animated feature-film collaboration, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures present The Secret Life of Pets, a comedy about the lives our pets lead when we leave for work or school.

The Secret Life of Pets 3

Max is a loyal terrier living a perfectly happy existence until his owner, Katie, brings home Duke, a big, boisterous mutt she finds at the shelter.

The Secret Life of Pets 4

When Max and his unruly new “roommate” slip away from their dog-walker, they find themselves lost in the urban jungle of New York City. In an attempt to stay ahead of animal control and a rebel band of abandoned pets led by an unhinged bunny named Snowball, they put aside their differences to survive the epic journey back home.

The Secret Life of Pets 5

My kids are total animal lovers so I figured they’d enjoy this movie, and I was right! There are some scary scenes when the pets are being chased and when they face off against a giant snake, but Tee wasn’t fazed by it and even Kay took things mostly in stride. Mostly though it was a fun and funny buddy comedy adventure. The girls thought Chloe the cat and Snowball the bunny were hilarious, and I admit to having a soft spot for Leonard the heavy metal, head banging poodle.

The Secret Life of Pets 6

I liked the underling themes of friendship and teamwork. I strive to teach my kids empathy and how to be a good friend, so we were able to have a discussion after the movie about why it’s important to be open to making new friends at school and in our neighbourhood. Max and Duke remind me a little bit of my daughters when Kay first joined our family, but like my girls, they eventually learn to live with each other and appreciate each other’s strengths.

  • I have a cat, and his favourite activity is to play fetch like a dog! I throw his little toy mouse, he brings it back, over and over again – he’s the cutest!!

  • I have two cats named Zeus and Chickeetah. Zeus’s favorite activity is playing fetch and snuggling. While Chickeetah loves to climb anything and everything. We adore these two and they are our babies. Totally makes up for the kids leaving the nest. 🙂

  • We used to have a neurotic cat (adopted). It hated being around people and it’s favorite activity was avoiding people and if that wasn’t possible then taking swipes at them.

  • My cats name is shine. (he is the profile pic on my Instagram) ?We rescued him from the neighbors dogs mouth, still in his birth sack at 5 am during a really bad snow storm. I proceeded to feed nurture and carry him around in a little tiny jewelry pouch inside my bra. The vet said he would die. 🙂
9 years later he truly is the joy of our life. He doesn’t actually realize that John (MY SO) and I are not his litter mates. Shines most annoying habit is when he is bored in the middle of the night he comes and puts both front paws on my eyelids, and waits for me to wake up. Alternately, he sticks his nose inside me ear and inhales/exhales. After years of practice he has figured our just what works.

  • I have 5 dogs. 3 Chihuahua’s and 2 large breed dogs. It is always an adventure with them. They love to play ball and lay on the couch with me at TV time.

  • I have 3 cats. My favorite activity is to read or watch tv with a cat on my lap. I often wonder what they are up to when I’m away.

  • I had kittens as a child. When I married, my husband had a dog. Later, people dropped off dogs at our farm and the dog would adopt us. My daughter had cats-still does. One of our girls had a beautiful German Shepherd for a time but gave him back as she lived too close to a main road. His name was Zeus and he was a wonderful dog.

  • My dog, Shelby, loves to hunt for his snacks. Every night we hide his greenie and as he hunts for it he has the biggest puppy smile on his face.

  • I use to have a cat. Their favourite activity was to chase a ball that I would throw and they seemed to love to skid across the kitchen floor and in the wall to catch it.

  • We have a golden retriever named Rose, after Rose Tyler from Dr. Who. 🙂 She loves a lot of activities!! She loves greeting new people, running, playing fetch, going for walks, sniffing stuff, chewing on bones or other toys, playing in the snow, etc. I don’t think I could pick her favorite!

  • We have 3 dogs and 4 cats. The cats love to chase each other around the room. The dogs love to chase the cats!
