The Secret Life of Pets on Blu-ray

The Secret Life of Pets

Have you ever wondered what your pets do when you’re not home? I know I have! That question is finally answered when The Secret Life of Pets comes to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ 3D, Blu-ray™, DVD and On Demand today.

The Secret Life of Pets 1

In their fifth fully animated feature-film collaboration, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures present The Secret Life of Pets, a comedy about the lives our pets lead when we leave for work or school.

The Secret Life of Pets 3

Max is a loyal terrier living a perfectly happy existence until his owner, Katie, brings home Duke, a big, boisterous mutt she finds at the shelter.

The Secret Life of Pets 4

When Max and his unruly new “roommate” slip away from their dog-walker, they find themselves lost in the urban jungle of New York City. In an attempt to stay ahead of animal control and a rebel band of abandoned pets led by an unhinged bunny named Snowball, they put aside their differences to survive the epic journey back home.

The Secret Life of Pets 5

My kids are total animal lovers so I figured they’d enjoy this movie, and I was right! There are some scary scenes when the pets are being chased and when they face off against a giant snake, but Tee wasn’t fazed by it and even Kay took things mostly in stride. Mostly though it was a fun and funny buddy comedy adventure. The girls thought Chloe the cat and Snowball the bunny were hilarious, and I admit to having a soft spot for Leonard the heavy metal, head banging poodle.

The Secret Life of Pets 6

I liked the underling themes of friendship and teamwork. I strive to teach my kids empathy and how to be a good friend, so we were able to have a discussion after the movie about why it’s important to be open to making new friends at school and in our neighbourhood. Max and Duke remind me a little bit of my daughters when Kay first joined our family, but like my girls, they eventually learn to live with each other and appreciate each other’s strengths.

Toby loves to play with her baby dolls and eat chicken jerky. The cats’ favorite activity is sleeping! The turtles love to eat and bask and the squirrels love eating , jumping and playing with their toys.

The bunny’s favourite activity is chewing things she’s not supposed to. The snake’s favourite activity is being boring. The favourite activity of the mice as a community is “doing it.”
