Summer really is the best time for reading. I remember spending lazy afternoons curled up under a tree reading my favourite books, and I want my kids to have those fond memories too. I didn’t want Tee’s reading skills to get rusty over the summer, so I’ve been encouraging her to practice a little bit every day. She can sound out most three and four letter words and she’s learning her consonant blends. Tee’s more than ready to go back to school and show her teacher how she’s progressed!
Anyone’s who’s been around my blog for a while is probably aware how crazy Tee is for Star Wars. When I saw DK had a whole bunch of Star Wars readers, I knew they would be just the thing to keep her interested in reading. We received the following readers (I know there’s a LEGO Movie one in there too, but we all loved the movie, and variety is the spice of life!):
- LEGO Star Wars: A New Hope (Level 1)
- LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Level 2)
- LEGO Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi (Level 3)
- Star Wars: Luke Skywalker’s Amazing Story (Level 1)
- Star Wars: The Adventures Of Han Solo (Level 2)
- Star Wars: Are Ewoks Scared of Stomtroopers? (Level 1)
- The LEGO Movie: Calling All Master Builders (Level 1)
Tee’s not quite reading these independently yet, so we like reading them together. Having seen Episodes IV, V, and VI multiple times, she enjoys the familiarity of the stories and asks to read them over and over again. Level 1 books are just slightly beyond her current level, but I love how these books motivate her to keep practicing. I don’t think it will be long!
DK’s bestselling DK Readers are part of a multi-level reading program that allows beginning readers to start with easy to follow stories with simple sentences then progress to more sophisticated storylines and vocabulary. Covering science, nature, geography, and fiction, readers of all levels are sure to find something to interest them.
Every fully illustrated reader has a glossary and index in the back, and some also have space on the back page to record the first time your child reads it independently.

Children whom are read to at an early age, pick up a book and start reading once they know how
I think most people are fans of Star Wars and I find children will read what they are interested in and Like. Kudos to you.
My son would love all of these Star Wars books – and he’s 37!
Isn;t it wonderful when your child/ children begin to love to read? I know how thrilled I was when my older son finally found a genre he liked and began to read. It brings a whole new wonderful world to them.
