SKECHERS Shoes and Boots for the Whole Family

Skechers shoes lineup

When I hear SKECHERS, I think running shoes. Or at least I used to. This fall I was offered the opportunity to review some SKECHERS shoes, and when I went through their catalogue I was struck by how much more they have than just runners. SKECHERS has a fantastic selection of shoes and fall boots too!

All summer long, I live in sandals, but when the cold weather hits, I’m a boots girl. I wanted to try a pair of SKECHERS boots, and these black suede Women’s Disco Bunny Boots cried out to me, “Pick me! Pick me!” I’m always nervous about ordering shoes online. Will they fit true to size? Will they be comfortable? Will they look as good in person? When it comes to these boots, the answers were yes and yes and yes!

These low slouch boots with faux fur on the shaft are adorable with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings. They’re not snow boots by any means, but for our milder winters they’re just perfect! At 5’3″, I’m a fan of high heels. I just love how they look, but they have to be comfortable too. I’ve got two kids to chase after, and I can’t do that if I’m wobbling or limping around. These heels are about 3″ tall, but the sole is close to 0.75″ thick so I would say the actual height is just under 2.5″. That’s just right for me, and the chunky heels feel nice and stable making these a good choice for an everyday boot.

Hubby on the other hand, was looking for shoes he could wear to work. He had quite a few requirements though. The shoes had to look business casual at minimum, but he was also looking for more ankle support since banging up his left ankle last year. Hubby takes the train downtown and then walks to and from work every day so they also had to be comfortable for walking. These Mark Nason Men’s Crossover Boots in dark brown fit the bill perfectly.

He’s been wearing them more or less daily since he got them, and he’s really pleased with how they feel. You can’t tell they’re boots under his pant cuffs, but they do help support his weak ankle. The rubber soles have deep treads with great traction, so he can tell these will be safe for walking on slick sidewalks in the winter months too.

For the girls we decided to have some fun and let them each pick out a pair of SKECHERS’ light-up shoes. Tee received the Girls’ Magic Lites: Skech Airlites – Gleamin Dream in charcoal/multi. These shoes have a memory foam insole so they’re really comfortable to wear, and the translucent air cushion sole lights up.

The coolest part is that each glittery shoe lights up with two different colours. The left shoe lights up in green or white, and the right in pink or blue. The lights are controlled by a little button on the Velcro strap that changes the colours and turns it off. Thank you, Skechers, for including an on/off switch! After five weeks of testing, they’re a bit dirtier, but that’s about it. They still look and feel good.

And finally, little Kay received this pair of Girls’ Twinkle Toes: Shuffles – Pretty Blossom. These are the girliest, princessiest shoes I’ve ever seen, and my three-year-old absolutely adores them! They’re pink and covered in pink glitter and pink 3D flowers, and the rubber toecap has rhinestones and LED lights – basically everything a three-year-old girl could ever think to put in a shoe. I just wish that the super bright LED lights had an off switch so Kay could wear them in school.

Unfortunately, these were not quite as durable as the other pairs we tried. Let me preface this by saying my three-year-old is hard on her shoes. She plays in the dirt, she falls over several times a day, she drags her feet when she rides her tricycle… But after five weeks of use, the glitter has started to flake off the Velcro and canvas straps where they flex to open and close. This leaves them looking more beat up than any of the other pairs of shoes. Next time I would probably buy Kay a pair of Skech Airlites like her sister’s.
