Simply Earth Essential Oils Subscription Box: DIY with Oils!

Subscription boxes are just plain fun. Who doesn’t like getting a surprise in the mailbox every month? They have them for pretty much anything you can imagine – make-up, bacon, pet toys, beer, LEGO, underwear, and even moss… But today I want to introduce you to essential oil recipe boxes from Simply Earth.

I love using essential oils around my home as a natural, non-toxic way of scenting the air and personal care products, as well as for their natural medicinal effects. For example, lavender has been clinically shown to help relieve anxiety and depression, tea tree oil has demonstrable microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, and lemongrass has been shown to be antifungal and anti-inflammatory.

If you’d love to make your own natural home and beauty products but find the idea kind of intimidating, Simply Earth essential oil recipe boxes are perfect for you! Each box contains a carefully curated collection of essential oil recipes and the ingredients and supplies you need to make them. No need to special order ingredients or spend tons of money on supplies you may never use. You get everything you need all in one little box, making these really accessible and lots of fun for anyone wanting to start DIYing with essential oils.

Every box has a different theme and comes with 5-7 recipes, 4 essential oils, and extra supplies as needed. May’s box was all about natural beauty, and here’s what came in it.

6 easy-to-follow recipes for these products:

  • Makeup remover
  • Under eye serum
  • Natural shampoo and body wash
  • Natural conditioner
  • Natural facial cleanser
  • Body scrub

4 bottles of pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils:

  • Lemongrass
  • Juniper berry
  • Geranium
  • Cypress

Other supplies:

  • 118ml (4oz.) bottle of castile soap
  • 118ml (4oz.) bottle of camellia seed oil
  • Two small roll-on bottles
  • Circular labels for my projects

I also want to let you know which supplies aren’t included, so that you have an idea of the kind of household staples and containers you need to make these recipes. In order to make all 6 recipes right out of my May box, I also needed water, white sugar, honey, apple cider vinegar, 2 containers, a spray bottle, a squirt bottle, and a foaming soap dispenser. Everything else was included.

Today I made the body scrub with 1/2 cup sugar, 1 ounce of honey, 1 ounce of camellia seed oil, 10 drops of geranium essential oil, and 10 drops of juniper berry essential oil. It took less than 2 minutes to mix up all the ingredients and transfer it into an old mason jar I found in my kitchen. After using some in my shower, my skin felt soft and moisturized (both honey and camellia oil are great humectants), and I smelled wonderful too!

This is the second Simply Earth box I’ve received, and so far each box has arrived well-packaged with everything intact. The EO bottles themselves come in ingenious little cardboard “drawers” that provide cushioning so they don’t break during shipment. Each 15 ml bottle has a label clearly identifying the oil, what part of the plant is used to make it, a description of the aroma, and the country of origin.

We all have choices about where we spend our money, and I appreciate it when my money goes towards more than some big CEO’s corporate jet. Simply Earth is a small family-owned business, committed to both planet and people. Every purchase you make helps them help others, as Simply Earth donates 13% of their profits to organizations that work towards ending human trafficking.
