LEGO Scooby-Doo!: Haunted Hollywood on Blu-ray May 10

Disclosure: Warner Bros. Home Video provided me with some of the materials I used in this blog post/giveaway. The opinions I share are my own.

LEGO Scooby-Doo!: Haunted Hollywood

Jinkies! The Mystery Inc. gang is back in LEGO Scooby-Doo!: Haunted Hollywood! In this direct-to-video movie, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo win a hamburger eating contest where the grand prize is an all expenses paid trip to Hollywood for the whole gang. On their trip, they’ll try to save the legendary Brickton Studios which is not only threatened by developers who want to tear it down, but by a trio of classic movie monsters haunting the place: the Headless Horseman, the Mummy, and a zombie.

My daughters are huge LEGO fans, and they both really enjoyed this movie. The LEGO sets are well done, and the voice acting is solid. Matthew Lillard does a great job as Shaggy, and Frank Welker has been the voices of Fred and Scooby-Doo since the very beginning. Since the monsters are all LEGO minifigures, they’re much less frightening for Kay so I don’t mind her watching this.

Despite being set in a LEGO world, Haunted Hollywood feels very true to the Scooby-Doo cartoons I grew up watching after school. Fred still comes up with overly complicated plans, Velma is still the brains of the operation, Daphne is still the klutzy wanna-be starlet, and Shaggy and Scooby-Doo still can’t resist a Scooby Snack. You know the story will end with an unmasking, but you’ll need to watch to find out who the villain is. Either way, you can be assured they would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling kids!

The 2-Disc set comes packaged with this bonus exclusive LEGO Scooby-Doo minifigure that Kay has claimed for her own.
