Enjoy the Summer in Silkberry Baby (plus Coupon Code!)

When local Vancouver mom Carrie discovered that her second child was allergic to the synthetic fibers in regular bedding, she decided to create her own baby bedding with hypoallergenic and environmentally-friendly mulberry silk floss and bamboo. Silkberry Baby‘s line was eventually extended to modern and eco-friendly baby and children’s clothing up to size 4T, all made from quality bamboo blend fabrics.

Rayon from bamboo is a hypoallergenic fiber, safe for the most sensitive baby skin. It’s breathable, antibacterial, and excellent for regulating body temperature. And unlike cotton, bamboo is considered a sustainable crop as it grows quickly and thrives without the need for insecticides or herbicides.

Tee and Kay both received bamboo smocked sundresses from Silkberry Baby’s summer collection.

The first thing I noticed was how incredibly silky soft and light the dresses are. The bamboo rayon fabric is airy, breathable, and luxuriously soft with a little bit of stretch. I think this is the perfect material for summer. Unfortunately, they don’t call it the Wet Coast without reason, and we’ve had a lot of cloud but not much sun the past couple of weeks. I was finally able to get some outdoor pictures today.

Tee picked the Apple Print sundress in 3-4T, and I chose Lollipop Pink in 18m-2T for Kay. Tee’s dress has a mix of dark pink and light pink apples on a white background. It really is the cutest pattern. The Lollipop Pink dress is plainer but features pretty zig zag embroidery in contrasting colours on the smocking. Both dresses have ruffled elastic shoulder straps, a ruffled neckline, a smocked bodice, and a sweet little ruffled tiered hem.

Both girls love their dresses! Tee in particular loves twirling around in hers, I think because of how silky it feels. The stretch fabric and elastic in the bodice and straps mean the dresses never feel constricting. They’re super comfortable and move easily with my very active kids.

My only caveat is about the sizing. Tee’s on the shorter side of the growth chart and only just turned four in March, but if she grows any more (as I suspect she will), her 3-4T dress will be far too short by the end of the summer. Fortunately, it works just as nicely as a tunic paired with some neutral leggings. But if your child is on the taller side or at the upper end of the size range, be aware that this sundress may show a little more leg than you were expecting and you should probably go up a size.

  • I LOVE the smocked sundresses! To me that is the epitome of summer. I wish I could get away with wearing them now…lol. It’s wonderful also they move with active children. Constricting clothing is no fun and that the clothing feels nice and moves with them is a huge selling point, not to mention they are darn cute! 🙂

  • . The bamboo rayon fabric is airy, breathable, and luxuriously soft with a little bit of stretch. Definitely perfect for the West Coast babies, we live in the middle of a desert. I like the cute baby clothing, and the toddler dresses are cute, but my grandchildren are all boys!
