Disney’s The Pirate Fairy Available April 1 (Plus FREE Printables)

I won a free pass to a screening of The Pirate Fairy last weekend, so I took the whole family out to the movies. This was Keira’s first time in a movie theatre and I wasn’t sure how she’d do, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well she behaved. She sat quietly on hubs’ lap eating rice crackers through pretty much the whole thing and only fussed at the very end. I think that was entirely thanks to the child-friendly animation and story. My girls have both been very interested in pirates lately, so pirates and fairies together? Happy children!

We’ve also watched The Pirate Fairy at home on Blu-ray, and I have to tell you that I’m still pretty impressed by this movie. The kids really enjoy it, but even for the adults it’s very watchable and quite funny. The animation is well done and the pirates are wonderfully likable villains. “The Frigate That Flies” big musical number gets my toes tapping every time. This is one movie I won’t mind watching over and over again!

The Pirate Fairy available on Blu-ray April 1

From the world of Peter Pan comes The Pirate Fairy, a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina (voice of Christina Hendricks), a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell (voice of Mae Whitman) and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword against the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James (voice of Tom Hiddleston), who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself. With laughter, heart, magic and thrills, The Pirate Fairy sets sail April 1, 2014.
