“Disney On Ice Presents Frozen” Is Hot in Vancouver

Last night we bundled up the girls and drove into Vancouver for the most highly anticipated event of the year, in this house at least. My girls have been talking about it for weeks, wanting to know how much longer they would have to wait. I’m talking about Disney On Ice presents Frozen of course!

Disney On Ice presents Frozen - Anna & Elsa

I always enjoy watching the talented skaters at Disney On Ice, but I will say this time was a little more special than usual because my kids were so excited to be there. When Elsa and Anna skated onto the ice, my girls leaped out of their seats. Kay jumped up and down, “There’s Anna! There’s Anna!” And you should have heard the cheers when Olaf made his first appearance.

All the songs we know and love were part of the show – favourites like “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”, “Love is an Open Door”, and “Let It Go”. I just couldn’t help but smile when I heard thousands of children cheering, singing along, and reciting lines from the movie. (Okay, I might have sung along a little to “Let It Go” too!) Olaf’s number “In Summer” was a really fun choreographed number featuring dancing bees, flowers, and butterflies.

In Summer routine

As everything happens on the ice (of course), some scenes were adapted or removed entirely to allow for the performance. Tee’s watched the movie countless times so she noticed and pointed out the changes, but it didn’t impact her enjoyment of the show.

Both the girls were completely enthralled by the entire performance, and they keep asking when they can go back. Tee’s been inspired to learn how to ice skate too! (Luckily there’s an ice rink not too far from our house, so we’re going to give it a try soon.)

One caution. If you’ve got younger kids, be aware that the wolves with glowing eyes and the giant inflated ice monster can be scary, especially if you’re sitting closer to the ice. Kay climbed into my lap for those scenes, but she didn’t want to stop watching.
