Celebrate #Canada150 in Style

Oh, Canada! You may have noticed that we’re celebrating a certain milestone this July 1st. Canada Day is always a celebration, but this year’s is extra special. We’re turning 150! This weekend, we’ll be celebrating with some friends and family at a backyard barbecue. Hubby will be grilling up steaks, burgers, and chicken basted with my famous blueberry barbecue sauce.

As an iconic Canadian institution for the past 65 years, Sears Canada has launched an exclusive line of patriotic gear perfect for celebrating Canada Day whether you’re staying home or heading out to the beach, campsite, or cottage.

I love this Canada 150 apron ($9.97) and these barbecue mitts ($6.97) that’ll let hubby show off his Canadian colours and his barbecuing skills!

For dessert, I’ll be serving some special red and white treats. Strawberries with whipped cream and a sprinkling of toasted, shredded coconut are a simple yet elegant dish, but I’ve got my eye on one (or both!) of these amazing Canada Day desserts as well. These strawberry rhubarb parfaits would be a huge hit, and my kids are super excited to help me make this homemade red and white Jell-O swirl ice cream. I’ve already picked up some of those cute maple leaf sprinkles!

Canadians will be throwing the biggest party of the year all across this great nation of ours, with celebrations planned in just about every city and town. After our barbecue, we’re planning to head out to our own local celebration for live music and fireworks. If you’re lucky enough to be in Ottawa for Canada Day, you’ll be at the biggest bash in the country, but if not, here are some of the other major Canada Day events being planned across the country.

I know many of you will be at the cottage or camping for the long weekend instead of in town, so check out Sears Canada for reasonably priced Canada 150 swag perfect to take the celebration with you to the campground or cottage. Celebrate on Canada Day and all year long (because we’re not about to limit our Canuck pride to just one day!) with fleece hoodies for the whole family (adults $19.97, kids $16.97), Canada ceramic mugs ($4.97), a retro-inspired Canada 150 metal cooler, ($69.97), and these folding chairs ($14.99 or 2 for $20.00).

And for your newest family member? Outfit your baby Canuck in this adorable bodysuit ($4.97) and bucket hat ($6.97). Squee!

You’ll find everything you need to celebrate this Canada Day in style at Sears Canada! Check out the entire exclusive Canada150 Collection available in-store and online, and connect on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for more ideas this Canada Day!

  • I am finding Sears to be actually reasonable with the pricing now, a lot better then what it used to be like, before I found them very over priced on quite a few things, but they have dropped the price a lot!! way to go!!

  • I have found Sears to be a great source of quality, well-priced clothes since my kids were little. I will be so sad if Sears disappears!

  • I’ve always found some great items at Sears, but I always found their prices a bit steep. Since the recent changes they’ve made, prices have gone down quite a bit. I’m much more likely to go there to shop now!

The only downside is catalogue returns. I used to buy somethings from catalogue, as I could easily return them in-store if they didn’t fit. When I returned some boots this winter, it took a very long time to receive a refund (4-6 weeks).

  • I love the hoodies. There isn’t a sears downtown anymore though so I’ll have to look up where the closest one is!

  • Sears has a lot of great items to celebrate, and I find their prices have been pretty good lately as well, think I am going to have to start shopping at Sears again!

  • Sears Canada has certainly improved enormously in a very short time, it’s not long ago I wouldn’t have dreamed of going into one of their stores – way to go Sears 🙂
