We attended a birthday party for my four-year-old nephew last weekend. We raced down (and up!) slides, climbed to the top of the playground, built sandcastles, opened stormtrooper after stormtrooper figure (they’re his thing right now), and ate double helpings of chocolate cake. Doesn’t four look good on him?
He’s growing up so quickly! I wanted to give him a birthday gift that he would appreciate and enjoy this year, but also next year and the year after that. I wasn’t sure what to choose until I had the genius idea of giving him a personalized book. My girls already have a few books they love from Wonderbly (publishers of the bestselling The Little Boy or Girl Who Lost Their Name books), and when I saw Wonderbly had a new release called The Birthday Thief, I knew it was perfect for the occasion!
Let me tell you about this beautifully illustrated storybook personalized and customized for your child’s day, month, and year of birth.
The story starts with your child eagerly waiting for their birthday party to start when all of a sudden, the presents and decorations disappear!
Following a trail of wrapping paper, your child sets off on a magical quest to find their stolen birthday. The characters and helpers your child meets en route are all customized according to your child’s birthday. Will they join forces with Colonol March, Princess July, or Duke October? In my nephew’s book, he meets Sir September who once golfed in his underwear!
Once your child finally catches up with the birthday thief, they share a valuable life lesson learned along the way: “It’s everything you learn and do in the days between that matters.” I thought that was a wonderful sentiment on a birthday (or any day)!
Each book is personalized with your child’s name, gender, and birth date, as well as one of three skin tone/hair colour combos. I would really like to see Wonderbly offer more character models in the future so every child can see him or herself in the pictures. You can also write a custom dedication at the front of your book.
One of my favourite things about Wonderbly is their preview function. Once you enter your child’s details, you can look at the entire book on the website. You can see exactly how each page will look so it’s just like flipping through the book in person. Try it now by heading over to preview your child’s personalized copy of The Birthday Thief.
The full colour cover and pages are printed on heavy, high-quality Rainforest Alliance certified card stock that will definitely stand up to repeated readings.
Since your book is printed just for your child and shipped from the UK, you should plan to order at least 2-3 weeks ahead of time to ensure arrival via standard shipping before their special day. Purchase your copy for $34.99 CAD, and order through my Wonderbly coupon link to save 15% off your first book!
