I’ve talked a bit about Tee’s recent birthday, but I haven’t talked much about the actual party. In years past, we’ve done Mod Monkey, Sesame Street, and pink kitty themes. This year I thought a tea party theme would be really cute, but I knew I didn’t have the time (or the talent!) to make decorations for the party. I was excited to discover a wonderful Etsy shop that makes beautiful custom party decorations, and I saw they had just the items to make everything chic and matchy matchy with no time required on my part.
Scraps to Remember is a Canadian shop run by three crafty sisters in Ottawa: Kelly, Carrie, and Kim. Between the three of them, they have 34 years combined experience scrapbooking. They recently started making die cuts from a machine, and when Kelly was inspired to try making paper party decorations her sisters quickly jumped on board. Kelly, Carrie, and Kim have a real passion for creating (and for parties!) so their talents, abilities and interests all come together perfectly in Scraps to Remember.
The talented ladies at Scraps to Remember designed and created all of Tee’s birthday party decorations. They sent us a birthday banner, a set of cupcake toppers, a set of thank you favour tags, a centrepiece stick set, and a matching set of die cut confetti. Everything was personalized just for Tee and matched the turquoise and pink tea party theme perfectly.
Check out the cute die cut teacups, teapots, and cupcakes they used to bookend the individual words in the banner.
I loved the pretty matching tulle and ribbons they used to tie everything together on the banner. Here’s a close up of one end to give you a better look at the workmanship.
Scraps to Remember sent me two different styles of cupcake toppers to show you. The die cut teapots and teacups are made out of multiple layers of hand assembled heavy weight card stock. The personalized toppers are designed on the computer, printed on sticker paper, then added to scalloped card stock pieces. Personally, I liked the die cut ones best, but I love that there’s more than one style to suit your preference. With the printed style you can choose any personalization you like.
For the centrepiece, I stuffed an old teapot with some styrofoam and stuck the centrepiece sticks in there. I wish I had had more than one teapot to put them in, but I still liked how they looked on the table.
The thank you tags came with pre-cut coordinating ribbons, all ready to go. It’s those little touches that make my life easier. I tied these on to the tea cup party favours that the guests took home. My only issue was so tiny I hesitate to even mention it. There was a comma added to the tag inscription. That’s it. Out of everything, the only thing that was less than 100% perfect was a comma.
Everything came individually packaged in zippered freezer bags and carefully packed in a sturdy box so it all arrived in perfect condition. The moms at the birthday party were all very impressed and several asked if I had made the decorations myself. I suppose I could have fibbed and pretended to be a supermom (“Oh yes, I made those between baking the cake and running a half marathon”), but I gave credit where credit is due. Of course, you don’t have to tell anyone where you got your birthday party decorations. I won’t tell!
