Last summer, Tee created a life-size self-portrait, and I wrote that I’d love to revisit that project a year later. Well, here we are! We revisited the self-portrait this week, and what a difference a year makes! This year she was all about the paint (and covering as much paper with paint as possible). She gave herself a blue face, some awesome hair, and the biggest smile ever!
Fun idea! I think this is a perfect idea for something for us to do (well the first part anyway…we’ll revisit it next summer or something,) tomorrow. We need a calm craft after a long week of camping!
It’s great for keeping them focused and absorbed for hours!
Oh, I remember doing this with my kids!!! E stuck her’s on her bedroom door each year…
Thanks for the memories!
Happy Wordless Wednesday π

Butcher paper has sure made a lot of kids happy, I love her portrait very colorful!! Hope you can stop by my #WW
Yes! So many uses for the large rolls of paper. π Thanks for visiting!
What a great idea! My daughters would love this
What a great idea! Michael did this at daycare a couple of times, but I kind of wish we’d kept up an annual tradition. What a great way to track their growth and their development.
I’m hoping to do this every year!
What a great craft to do with your kids! So much fun!
You can tell that she thoroughly enjoyed doing this project. I wonder why she gave herself a blue face π
I asked her that too, and she told me it was because that’s what she had. I guess blue was the closest thing she had to her skin tone? π
I remember doing this in kindergarten! How fun!
Yeah, me too! With yarn for hair!
I did this this the grandkids last year but used cardboard and then we dressed then, with post the pic when I find it sure made for a fun day
What a great idea! And thanks for sharing your picture, it was adorable!
What a great idea! We’ve done that with sidewalk chalk but never with paint before. I’ll have to find some big paper – wait a minute, my mom has some! This is a project for Grandma’s House. π
We’ve used chalk too – it looked like there was a mini massacre in front of my house!
This is a great project for all kids. Love it!
It’s perfect! What a great craft idea for her age. I bet that was fun!
She loved it!
I did one of these when I was in first grade! Loved every minute of it, but I don’t recall getting to take mine home. My son also did one, his was in gr. 2, and I still have it rolled up and tucked away…my gentle giant was so tiny back then lol.
Tee’s masterpiece is just awesome!
My little sister and I would do this almost every year. It was an excellent way to keep her busy for hours and we used her homework from school to help as she got older. In fourth grade she was learning about some of the organs in her body and we drew them in together! It really helped her to understand how all her parts worked together.
I love that idea of drawing in the organs. What a fun way to learn basic anatomy!
she is a great little artist
What a great idea doing this on the bedroom door, I can remember doing this with my children on paper. now they do it with their children
Now time to trace mommy! =) Doooo iiiiit!
This seems like such a fun idea!
I might need to try with my 3 year old if he would stay still long enough lol.
I remember getting my head traced like that when I was in elementary school.
One of my best memories. I still have the shadow trace somewhere.
I so want to do this with everyone in the family. Where do you get the rolls of paper?
